Cookie Policy

Last updated: 27 May 2026

Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device. They can be used to remember preferences, keep you signed in, or track behaviour across the web.

A Quiet Room takes a deliberately minimal approach to cookies. We do not use cookies to track visitors, build profiles, or share information with advertising networks.

What we do use

Our website may set the following strictly necessary cookies. Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), these do not require consent because they are essential to providing a service you have requested:

  • WordPress session and preference cookies — set only for logged-in administrators (currently Peter Hellsten) when working in the administrative area. These are not set for ordinary visitors.
  • Hosting and security cookies — our hosting provider (SiteGround) may set short-lived cookies for caching, performance, and protection against malicious traffic.
  • Form anti-spam token — when you submit a contact form, the form may temporarily store a small token to prevent automated spam submissions. This is processed entirely on our own server and does not transmit data to any third party.

What we do not use

We have intentionally chosen not to load the following on this site:

  • Google Analytics or any other analytics platform
  • Facebook, Instagram, TikTok or other social-media tracking pixels
  • Advertising or retargeting networks
  • Third-party fonts (our typefaces are served from our own server)
  • External CAPTCHA services such as Google reCAPTCHA or Cloudflare Turnstile
  • Heatmapping or session-recording tools

As a result, ordinary visitors to this site are not tracked across the web and no information about your visit is transmitted to outside companies.

Browser controls

You can configure your browser to block cookies entirely if you wish. Doing so will not affect your ability to read the public pages of this site. Most browsers allow you to manage cookies through their privacy settings:

  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy
  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy → Cookies and Site Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
