I’m a counselling psychologist who has supported people who have experienced abuse, trauma, or neglect and looking to understand their experiences and cope with related difficulties affecting their lives in the present. I have often worked with people who find themselves consistently seen as the reliable one: used to being the competent, calm and strong one in their personal and professional lives, but feel stuck in patterns of over-responsibility, self-blame or putting others first. Additionally, I have supported people feeling ‘in-between’ cultures and navigating complexity, such as people from the ESEA community who have experienced racial discrimination, as well as people wishing to explore differences in their identity, such as race, ethnicity, and neurodivergent experiences.
I have experience working within NHS, third sector, and independent settings including general adult mental health, and specialist trauma services. I trained as a counsellor, before completing further training in CBT and doctorate in counselling psychology.
I use a formulation-driven, personalised approach with a blend of evidence-based interventions. These include CBT, CFT and Schema-informed approaches, which are based on relational values. We look at what connects and shapes the present from your past experiences, agree a focus for therapy and identify therapeutic tasks to help you with this. This can help people feel more connected, understand their emotions, break unhelpful patterns, and move towards a future that belongs to them.
