Georgina Gardner Stockley
I’m a person-centred psychotherapist working with individuals and couples, with particular experience in complex trauma, bereavement and sexual abuse. I work with people who feel overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves, or caught in painful patterns, and with those living with the long-term impact of difficult relationships and environments. This includes people shaped by boarding or independent day school, emotionally misattuned or neglectful parenting, abusive relationships, and other relational experiences that have left them carrying shame, panic, dissociation, grief, or a persistent sense of not quite feeling safe in themselves.
My practice is also informed by ongoing training in Somatic Experiencing and NARM, both of which support a trauma-focused, body-aware way of working. I’m a qualified yoga instructor, and where it feels helpful I can bring movement, breath and attention to bodily sensation into therapy. I work affirmatively with LGBTQIA+ clients and welcome couples of all configurations, including LGBTQIA+ and neurodiverse couples.
Before becoming a psychotherapist, I spent ten years as an elite athlete, and I have a particular interest in supporting athletes and former athletes whose relationship with sport, performance, injury, food, the body or identity has become painful or complicated. I’m especially interested in offering athletes something beyond performance-focused support: a space to explore the human experience of being the person who performs.
